Awesome Paragliding in Hermanus

Paragliding in HermanusWe had such awesome flying today in Hermanus. The forecast for the day was SE and not looking promising for Cape Town so we headed out to Hermanus - good call! We had long flights with all our passengers, flying the full length of the ridge, whales visible from the air and getting lots of altitude!

Pete and I were pretty much the only ones in the sky. Bevan and Franco were there and big thanks to them for anchoring us when the wind got stronger.

We had a great time with Eric and Silke from Germany, Paul and Andrew (father and son), Chris and Shaun (father and son) from South Africa. Thanks for joining us guys - it was awesome.

On the last flight Pete flew out and landed by the Marine Hotel while I, unfortunately, had to land back on top because I had to drive the car down...ah well c'est la vie! It was great. Really nice day!

Fantastic paragliding from Lions Head this week

Fantastic paragliding from Lions Head this weekWe have had some truly fantastic flying this week from Lions Head in Cape Town. Perfect SW winds and blue skies have made for some textbook Cape Town flying conditions. Getting high above Lions Head with 360 degree views and glimpsing Chapmans Peak over the top of the Table Mountain Twelve Apostles is pretty special. Here is a pic that pretty much sums it up.

Thanks to Zuben (SA), Katy (Austria), Debra-Lee (Australia), Nathan (Belgium) and Adam (UK) for sharing these wonderful flying moments with us. I know you had a great time cos we did!

Mutha FM Extreme team join us paragliding from Signal Hill

Mutha FM extreme team, Gizelle, Helene and Deniel joined us for their second extreme challenge paragliding from Signal Hill and landing in front of La Vie in Cape Town.

I flew with Gizelle who was very excited and kept jabbering away all through the flight. The wind was pretty much perfect and all three of us launched within a couple of minutes of each other and soared along Signal Hill before flying out over Sea Point and landing gently on the grassy promenade.

A good time for all and another beautiful winter's day in Cape Town paragliding from Signal Hill. Rock on!

Join us!

Amazing day paragliding at Signal Hill and Lions Head

Paragliding in Cape Town, above Lions Head with Table Mountain in the backgroundThe forecast for the day looked good but I didn't expect it to be that good!

We arrived for our 12.30 flight with Jan and a few guys from England who were at Signal Hill decided it looked too good to miss and joined us for an unforgettable flight. Stephan and I launched first and we were soon 200m or so above Signal Hill. We hung around for a few minutes waiting for Jacques to get in the air but he was taking a bit too long so we shot off towards Lions Head. The glide over was fast and we lost little or no height. A few beats of Lions Head and we had gained another 200m and were getting awsome 360 degree views of Cape Town, Table Mountain and Camps Bay. Superb!

After about 30 minutes, Jacques had joined us by now, we all headed out over Camps Bay to land at La Med. We all did some big wingovers and spirals to burn off the height and landed softly on the soccer field in front of La Med.

Everyone had big smiles. Jan from the Czech Rebublic was super stoked and had fired off about 500 pics while we were in the air.

We headed back up and took Chris and his dad from the UK flying on a similar flight path also landing at La Med. Chris is pictured here above Lions Head with Table Mountain in the background.

Last, but not least, Jarrod and his wife Chelsea, from Las Vegas, joined us for some very pleasant soaring before a later afternoon glide out over the Seapoint promenade, landing gently in front of the Winchester Mansions - very civilized!
