Welcome to our brand-new Cape Town Tandem Paragliding 2026 website

Out with the old, in with the new

We’re a bit chuffed about this one. After months of late-night
tinkering, the new Cape Town Tandem Paragliding website
is finally live. Same team, same flights, same views over the city —
just a much better way to plan and book your tandem flight from Lion’s
Head or Signal Hill.

If you’ve visited the old site before, you’ll notice things load
quicker, look cleaner, and feel a lot more at home on a phone. If you’re
a first-time visitor, welcome aboard. Either way, here’s what’s new and
what we’re working on next.

Built for your phone first

Most people now plan their Cape Town trip on a phone, often while
standing on Table Mountain trying to figure out what to do tomorrow.
That used to be a frustrating experience on our old site — pinch, zoom,
scroll, give up.

The new site is built mobile-first. Big tap targets, a clean menu, no
overlapping pop-ups, and pages that respect your data plan. Switch to a
desktop and the layout simply gets more breathing room — same content,
more comfortable for longer reads.

A few practical wins:

  • The menu opens with a single tap and stays out of your way the rest
    of the time.
  • The cart slides in from the side so you never lose your place on the
    page.
  • Forms remember what you typed if you accidentally swipe back.
  • Buttons confirm what they did with a tick or a friendly “Added!”
    instead of a silent reload.

Action video the moment you land

You’ve felt it standing on Lion’s Head — the wind, the view, the
slightly jelly-legged thrill of the run-off. We wanted the homepage to
feel a little bit like that. A full-bleed action video plays the moment
you land, no autoplay sound, no shouting headlines on top of it. Just
paragliders, mountain, ocean.

If you’d rather skip the video and get straight to booking, the
navigation is right there at the top. We’ve kept it minimal so the
imagery does the talking.

Behind the scenes — fast images, fast pages

Time for the slightly nerdy bit. Paragliding photos are big. Big files mean slow pages. Slow pages mean people bounce before they ever see the experience.

So we did a few things under the hood:

  • CDN-hosted images. Every photo on the site is
served from a content delivery network — Amazon S3 with Cloudfront in
front of it. That means whether you’re in Cape Town, Cologne, or
California, the photo loads from a server that’s geographically close to
you. No more waiting for a 5MB JPEG to crawl across the Atlantic.
  • Modern image formats. Browsers that support them
get smaller, faster WebP versions automatically. The visual quality is
the same — the file is just half the size.
  • Lazy loading. Images further down the page only
load as you scroll to them, so the hero loads first and everything else
    streams in as needed.
  • A leaner front end. We rebuilt the templates from
scratch using Tailwind CSS, which strips out everything the page doesn’t
actually use. The result is a stylesheet that’s a fraction of what we
    used to ship.

You won’t notice any of this directly, which is sort of the point.
You just notice the site feels quicker.

Coming soon — instant booking with live availability

This is the one we’re most excited about, and it’s almost ready.
We’re integrating with PiGi, a booking platform built
specifically for tandem flying operators. When it goes live in the next
few weeks, you’ll be able to:

  • See real availability, not « contact us for times”.
  • Pick a slot that suits your schedule and lock it in immediately.
  • Get a confirmation email straight after payment, with everything you need for the day.
  • Reschedule from a link in your inbox if the weather turns and we have to call it.

Right now you book through our existing form and we get back to you
to confirm. That works fine, but we know the waiting bit is the worst
part. Soon you’ll know within thirty seconds whether you’re flying
tomorrow morning.

Your account, your way

For repeat fliers, gift voucher buyers, and corporate clients, we’ve
added a proper account area. You can log in to:

  • Review past orders and re-download invoices.
  • See your gift voucher codes and forward them to whoever you’re
    spoiling.
  • Update your billing and contact details once instead of typing them
    at every checkout.
  • (Soon) View upcoming bookings and reschedule them yourself.

Making an account is optional — guest checkout still works the way it
always has if you’d rather not.

A redesigned gift voucher flow

Gift vouchers are a big part of what we do, especially around
Christmas and birthdays. The new flow lets you:

  1. Pick the voucher value and any flight option (with or without
    inflight photos and video).
  2. Type the recipient’s name, email, and a short message.
  3. Hit Preview to see exactly what they’ll receive before you pay.
  4. Send instantly or schedule the email for the morning of their
    birthday.

The recipient gets a clean PDF in their inbox with a code they can
redeem on our site whenever they’re ready to book.

The little things

A handful of smaller improvements that we think you’ll feel without noticing:

  • Cleaner cart and checkout that don’t make you guess where to click next.
  • A floating WhatsApp button for quick questions when typing into a contact form feels like overkill.
  • Logged-in checkout that pre-fills your details so you can pay in seconds.
  • Better order tracking with a clear “payment received” or “awaiting payment” status, not jargon.
  • Improved gallery that respects your image quality settings and doesn’t autoplay anything you didn’t ask for.

What’s next on our list

This launch is the foundation, not the finish line. Over the next few
months we’re planning to add:

  • Live PiGi availability and instant booking (next up).
  • A revamped photo and video pipeline so your inflight media reaches
    your phone faster after landing.
  • Multi-language support for German, French, and Dutch — three of the
most common languages we hear at the launch site.
  • A proper FAQ hub for the questions we get asked every day, from
    weight limits to weather rescheduling.

We’re also experimenting with an automation agent that helps us
publish blog posts like this one consistently, so we can answer the
questions you actually search for instead of leaving the blog dormant
for months at a time. Yes, this post itself is part of that experiment —
written with a human in the loop and posted through our own
pipeline.

FAQ

Does
the new website change anything about the actual flight?

Not a thing. Same pilots, same launch sites, same gear, same
paperwork. The flight has been the same exhilarating fifteen-to-twenty
minutes since the day we started. The website is just a friendlier way
to plan it.

My old gift voucher — does it still work?

Yes. Every voucher we’ve ever issued is still valid. Just enter the
code at checkout when you’re ready to book. If you’ve lost the code, send us a message with the buyer’s name and
approximate purchase date and we’ll dig it out for you.

When will the instant booking system be live?

We’re aiming for the next few weeks. The integration with our flight
scheduling system is built — we’re now testing the booking flow
end-to-end so the first real booking doesn’t get a surprise. We’ll
announce it here and on our social channels the day it goes live.

I bookmarked an old page that doesn’t exist anymore. What now?

A handful of old URLs may have moved. If you hit a “page not found”, the
search bar at the top will get you where you wanted to go in one or two
clicks. The most common ones (Bookings, Gift Vouchers, Contact) still
live at their original addresses.

Can I still book by phone or WhatsApp?

Always. The new website is an extra option, not a replacement. You
can WhatsApp us on the number in the footer (it’s the floating green
button on every page) or call directly. Some bookings are easier to sort
over a quick message, and we’re not going to argue with that.

Ready to fly?

Whether you’re scrolling on a phone in a guest house in Camps Bay or
planning months ahead from somewhere up north, the new site is built to
get you in the air faster.

Take it for a spin, book your tandem paragliding
flight
, or just enjoy the view from the hero video for a minute.
We’ll see you on launch!
