Tandem paragliding Cape Town: the classic flight
Tandem paragliding Cape Town style means taking off from Lion’s Head or Signal Hill and flying high above the city, the beaches and the Atlantic, with an experienced pilot doing the flying while you take in the view. It’s the classic Cape Town paragliding experience, and you don’t need any experience to do it.

Where we fly
We fly from Lion’s Head or Signal Hill, depending on the wind on the day. Both are part of Table Mountain National Park, and from the air you see Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles, Camps Bay and the Atlantic coastline laid out below you. Your pilot picks the site that’s flying best, so you get the best flight the conditions allow.
Who can fly?
- No experience needed. Your pilot handles the take-off, the flying and the landing.
- Age: you must be 14 or older.
- Weight: flyers must weigh under 120 kg.
What to wear
- Closed shoes and long pants are required.
- Sunglasses are encouraged. They keep the sun out of your eyes and stop the wind making them water. A strap or a snug fit keeps them on.
- Bring a layer. It can be cooler and breezier in the air than on the ground.
- Phones and cameras must be tethered with a lanyard, or stowed away in a zip-up pocket. We fly over built-up areas, and an object falling from the sky could injure or kill someone below.
How long is the flight?
We can’t promise a flight time, because it depends on the weather conditions at the time of your flight. A tandem paragliding Cape Town flight usually lasts between 5 and 20 minutes. It can be shorter if we hit strong sink: air that is sinking faster than the glider can climb, which brings us down sooner. Our pilots fly these sites every day, weather permitting, and make the most of whatever the day offers.
Add inflight photos and videos
Most people only fly once, so take the memories home. Add our inflight photos and videos and your pilot captures 20+ photos and video clips of your tandem paragliding Cape Town flight, from angles you can’t get from the ground.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need any paragliding experience?
No. Tandem paragliding Cape Town flights are made for first-timers: your pilot flies, and you enjoy the view.
How do I book?
Book your flight on our bookings page. Please only pay for a tandem flight here once you have a confirmed booking.
Where do we take off from?
Lion’s Head or Signal Hill. The wind on the day decides which one.
Can I bring my own phone or camera?
Yes, as long as it’s securely attached to you with a lanyard or strap, or stowed away in a zip-up pocket. Honestly, though, you’ll get better results leaving it to us: our pilots know exactly where to point the camera to catch every angle and the best shots, so you can just enjoy the flight.
What happens if the weather isn’t right?
We only fly when the conditions allow it, and flight time depends on the wind and weather on the day. Cape Town weather changes quickly, so your pilot will keep you posted.
Can I give a flight as a gift?
Yes. Tandem paragliding Cape Town makes an unforgettable present: give one of our gift vouchers, with or without inflight photos and videos.
