Weather

Cape Town’s weather is famously changeable. We decide where — and whether — to fly from live conditions on the day.

Wind decides

How we choose the launch site

The site depends on the live wind reading shortly before take-off — so we won’t know which one until close to your flight.

N E S W
N – WSW winds

Signal Hill

Ideal: NW

Faces the Atlantic, so it works when the wind blows in off the sea — anywhere from west-south-west round to north.

N E S W
SSW – WSW winds

Lion’s Head

Ideal: SW

Picks up these winds once they bend over and around the back of the mountain.

  2. 2Your instructor makes the callOn the morning of your flight — weighing wind speed, direction and incoming weather.
  3. 3We’ll be in touchBy phone, WhatsApp or email to confirm the flight, the site and your meeting time.
