Paragliding from Signal Hill

Signal Hill is the back of Lion’s Head and is easy to spot from Cape Town, Seapoint or the Waterfront. To get to the Signal Hill paragliding launch site you need to drive all the way to the very end of Signal Hill Rd until you reach the Signal Hill car park.

At 350m, Signal Hill it is not very high but does offer excellent paragliding potential with the right winds. Ideally, Signal Hill requires a NW or W wind. Best winds for soaring are between 15-25km/h. We land on the Seapoint promenade in front of the Winchester Mansions Hotel. 

There is a parking area right next to the launch site so no walking is required. There are toilets here and usually there is a drinks van and a coffee truck.

With the right wind, it is occasionally possible to fly all the way to Lion’s Head and back. Some pilots have been able to fly all the way to Kommetjie starting at Signal Hill.
